Kindness is not an act, it is a lifestyle. Teach Your Family to Help Make A Difference in the Toms River Community

Part of educating our families is teaching them to be good, kind members of their community, to contribute their time and talents to the community that in turn serves and protects them. The best lessons are taught by example. There are several charitable groups in every community that welcome volunteers. By donating your time and talents and bringing your children along to do the same, you are helping them become better citizens and more compassionate people. The Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties is an excellent place to start. Volunteers are the heart of the FoodBank. They organize food drives, sort donations, fill agency orders and help with office work and mailings. Some volunteers contribute their professional or trade skills. They provide a pleasant and friendly working environment and the chance to make a difference in the lives of the 127,000 people they serve. Visit their Website to learn how to volunteer or call them at 732-918-2660.

During the past five years, I have traveled widely — and what lingers most in my mind are the faces of the people I have met. These faces are a persistent echo of the places I have been and reflect some of the most notable qualities I have seen: hardship, dignity, joy, pain, wistfulness, boredom, and determination.

Getting Started
with a Clinical Assessment

The Counseling Center at Toms River is an outpatient addiction treatment center for adults and adolescents seeking treatment for addiction, alcoholism, and co-occurring disorders associated with addiction and substance use. The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) combines evidence-based, state of the art treatment with 12 Step principles. The IOP is an intense, focused experience designed to enable sober and productive living.

IOP may be recommended for individuals who do not require medically supervised detoxification, and who live within driving distance of the center, and for individuals who have recently completed residential treatment (rehab) and are in the early stages of recovery.

Eligibility for the IOP is based on a clinical assessment. Treatment is individualized, and full information on program options, costs, and schedules will be available after assessment. Now offering Saturday assessments!
